To quote Guns N' Roses...

Post by Master of My Domain »

Where do we go now?

My eyes have been opened over the past four years into just how completely and utterly corrupt our government is. I have absolutely no faith in the federal government at all. Both parties (mostly Dem, but quite a few Republicans as well) care nothing about their constituents and every day is simply a struggle to gain and maintain power at all costs. We have a political class (this includes government officials, the media, academia, the big tech companies and a lot of the ultra wealthy) that only cares about enriching themselves and doesn't give a damn about our nation, our Constitution, our checks and balances and our way of life.

Maybe it has always been this way and I was just too naive to see it. I'm one of the idiots who genuinely believes in American exceptionalism, and it absolutely breaks my heart to see that we may be living in the dying days of our republic. I fear that America can't be saved...it is just a matter of how long can we keep it on life support before the Marxists and socialists take over. It' s inevitable.

My honest question is where should I move to? I don't know enough about other countries...I've heard good things about New Zealand and Belize. Australia, as well, but my understanding is that they have been extreme on the Covid lockdowns, so maybe not. In a perfect world, the U.S. will break up on it's own soon peacefully and we can get a fresh start somewhere. But, that probably won't happen. I'm thinking my best option is probably just to move to the reddest of the red states, buy as much land as I can afford and try to create my own "safe space."

Thoughts?

Ranked order preferences:

Safe space in Wyoming
New Zealand
Liechtenstein
Andorra
Belize
Croatia/Slovenia

let me know, will try to meet up....

I kinda want to disagree with your summary, but there really has been a decline in "society" the past 20 years. We kinda suck.

Don't know if I could do Wyoming. It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from there.

I'm looking more at South Dakota. Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Montana, Idaho...they all have my attention right now. I like the idea of the deep south or the big sky area

You are aware that Montana, Idaho and South Dakota all border Wyoming, right?
It's not a lie if you believe it.

Yes, I've been to that part of the country. Most of Wyoming is desolate with little scenery or civilization. The only portion I could maybe see myself living in Wyoming would be in the Yellowstone-ish area on the western side. Montana and Idaho have forests and mountains. South Dakota has the Black Hills, which is some of the beautiful country I've ever seen.

Sheridan, Wyoming is gorgeous. They have a host of breweries and distilleries too. A bunch of the people that got pushed out of Jackson Hole by the millionaires and billionaires moved there and brought their lifestyle. Check it out.
